An Eggs-cellent Way to Plan!

I have to say, our team did follow the five steps of planning. First we defined our goals which is to make an egg protector and to also achieve that five extra points on the next test (which i really need right now). Next we determined our resources and current status, we went over what is the best plan we can do with the straws and tape that we have. Next was to develop several alternative strategies and this is the part where i felt was our team's weakness. we contributed too much time into one strategy ... and with the limited time left we came up with a second plan which was more complicated but maybe more effective. The team's decision was to stick to the original plan since there was a limited amount of time left and the other plan was really complicated and we would've never made it in time. The decision we made was the fourth step of the planning process which is to make a tatical plan and stick with it. and of course the last part is to implement the plan. Our team did not get the five points, our egg split in half! I felt like my team did the best we can, next time maybe we can come up with more plans and pick the strongest one of the plans. Not like we will be asked to built an egg protector ever again eh?

  1. Yes, i think that we most likely not going to be asked to build an egg protector again. But something that we get out of that activity is the one that counts. All the process that we had to go through i think it was pretty incredible. For example, our group had come up with the idea of a parachute (!!%%%).A parachute for the egg.???? Well, that's probably the same method as the guy who invented the airplanes, but in a different setting..

  2. Even though your egg broke in half, I am sure now you know how to plan and what steps to go through next time you will be asked to contribute to a different project. My group did not get the bonus points either, so you are not alone.

  3. My group had some sort of egg protective thing as well, which didn't protect the egg well since it completely split in half. It was interesting how at the time the task seemed so complicated but something a simple as just combining a bunch of the straws together so you would have less distance to cover did the trick. It's okay next time well be good planners weather the task is to build an egg protector or whatever else we need.

  4. Our team did the same mistake: we had just one strategy. We did not think about other strategies because we were sure that we had a perfect idea. We lost our extra points, but at least now we know how to plan effectively.
