Hmmm, What can I say?
Was the class boring? No, it was great!
The activities challenged my brain receptors
The blogging, decision making and of course the egg protectors
The class was like a zoo, a mess
Struggling so hard for 5 extra points on the test
Going to McDonalds asking for exactly four pickles
A fool already, might as well pay with all nickels, right?
And here I am, reading this poem out loud
Hoping to make Professor Kurpis proud
My face red from embarassment, but it is okay
Because at the end of the day, what can I say?
Management is fun, it made us #1!

Communication via Blog
I am glad that this will be one of my last post! but i will miss it! The truth is, there are times where i am so lazy that i don't even comb my hair before leaving my house. So writing in this blog required a lot of time investment, but i did not regret it. I always dreaded the next post and always procrastinate till the last minute of the due date to post, but it really helped me to communicate with the rest of the class. I loved how each post was connected to an activity or something we learned in class. Hearing what the other students have to say and reading their feedback helped me understand what points the lecture wanted us to learn. For example for the decision making activity, we were clueless when were all trying to make a decision. but reading the feedback of everyone, i get an insight of what everyone else was thinking. Oh...I was not alone or I was not the only one that didnt participate. Or Oh....thats the point she was trying to prove. We learn that their are certain roles that people choose to assume in a certain environment. and making the whole class do the activity based on our grades created the right tension that would exist in a real life situation. Therefore, overall the blogs were enjoyable, useful and definitely a great way to learn and communicate to the 50 other students in the classroom.

HELP! Your opinions will be greatly appreciated!
It is saturday morning, barely hitting noon time and the rain is killing me! but yes i am blogging on a saturday morning. last night was one of the most humiliating night i've had yet! like every other college student would do on a friday night, i was stuck at a karaoke bar with a group of my friends. and what takes place at bars when all these testosterone filled males are intoxicated? immature fights of course, it just so happened that i was there and witnessed the fight from beginning to end. The tension began when i was playing a game of dice called "bullshit" with a fellow friend of mine...more of an acquaintance i would say. when a good friend of mine came over to give me some tips on how to beat this guy. this acquaintance who was obviously mad because he was losing to a girl decides to take a dice cup and chucks it at my friends face. It all happened so fast, i didnt know how to react. i can feel the fire coming up from the throat and out my nose and eyes! my friend's eyes end up cut and he was blind for literally a few minutes due to the force and close distance of the throw. Can you guys feel the anger inside me? How can someone hurt somebody else merely over a game? a room full of friends enjoying a fun night is now ruined, and is full of worry, anger and many more.
Thank god my friend is okay because we brought him to the ER and the doctor said as long as the swelling goes down, his eyes will be okay again. My friend also files a police report at the ER for assault. now this is where i need help. my friend called me about 30 minutes ago, asking if he should keep the case open. I mean they "were friends" even though they've had a few grudges prior to this incident. My friend just want the guy to pay his medical bills and maybe call it even. What do you guys think? The guy obviously was immature, and was not feeling sorry for what he did. so should be be put behind bars? or should he just be liable for the medical bills? which way will let him learn a lesson and learn from his mistakes? pleasee help!

Spring Break!
It is now mid spring break and i can already see that the rest of the days off will come soon and school will be here in no time. Hmmm...most people's idea of a really good spring break is to go somewhere (anywhere besides to stay in NY!) preferably somewhere hot where you can get a head start tan. However, I am spending my spring break here in New York. With many events planned but only less than half accomplished. Here is a list of some things i hope to accomplish during spring break:
1) Go to as many museums as possible
2) Spend a day with my girlfriends at spa castle
3) Bring my dog to the dog park at least three times for more than an hour (he loves it there!)
4) Go to a golfing range
5) finish my warrens case
6) Throw a bbq
7) hit the gym
yepp ... the list is not quite too long, however i've only accomplished half of the things. very disappointed! I still have a few more days till spring break is over, hopefully i can get the rest done =) so here is the question. What did everyone else do over their spring break? any exciting adventures? fun filled vacations? or were you stuck at work during the good weather? whatever it is, feel free to share! i would love to know!

THE NEXT STARBUCKS!
Visions....I have a lot of those. I want to become the first asian billionaire, the next oprah perhaps? or marry a handsome prince and live in a castle? Okay lets stop right here ... anyone can dream can they? those are more like my fantasies, but lets talk about more realistic visions that i can actually see myself achieving after i graduate college. Im going to list them in chronological order in the order that I want my visions to be achieved. first things first, I am an aspiring accountant to be majoring accounting at baruch college. What do all accounting majoring students wish to do after college? of course ... make big bucks. and to do so, you would have to take the CPA exam. My first vision is to take the CPA exam and maybe go back to school for masters, that way i can gain more knowledge in accounting and maybe get a starting position as senior accountant and making my way up. This all sound so easy, but it is no where close to being easy! to achieve this vision, i have to endure 3 more years of school and studying my butt off to do well and passing the CPA exam and at the same time getting experience in a prestigious auditing/accounting firm. Assuming the economy will be blooming by then, finding a job would be a lot easier than now.
My next vision (assuming i achieved the first) is to open a coffee shop in an urban/chic area. I would like my two sisters to be my partners, and making this a more enjoyable job, more like a hobby huh? It is a lot of fun operating a coffee shop with your two sisters right? Anyway, one of my ways to relax is to hit starbucks for a nice cup of warm coffee or maybe an iced caramel latte and just enjoy the moment. but lately, i think starbucks is getting over rated and i am being overcharged for a cup of coffee and staying in the crowded seat near the bathroom. I've always envisioned my coffee shop to be a nice place on the corner, with all shades of nice bright calming colors (lavender, lime green, baby blue, yellow and orange, etc.) and with neat little white seats and tables to top off the relaxing and calm tea and coffee time................Enough with me blabbing about how i want my coffee shop to look, because i can go on and on. But in order to achieve this, I have to be making money because opening up your own shop requires a good amount of funds. and perhaps gaining some entrepreneurship knowledge would do myself good since i can already manage my own book keeping and accounting. Marketing would also come in handy in making my coffe the next starbucks. Just kidding. I want my coffee shop to be the neighborhood shop, where everyone knows of it as the most relaxing place that serves the best cup of coffee and that is the next starbucks to me!

Decision Making
First of all, I was really glad that this activity took place in class. I bombed the first exam and think most of the class did. of course there were also those that did fairly well, which shouldn't of participated in the activity because it made it more chaotic. Just kidding. We needed to hear the voice of those people too because it affected them as well. Through this activity we would decide on the format of our next exam and also the curve of the class. The tension of the class was really at the tip of the bottle when the clock was ticking and a decision was not made. What issues really helped the situation? One thing that really helped was when people started to assume the position of leader and negotiator. Someone that collected the ideas of everyone and organized it on the board. Now lets talk about some things that didnt help the issue....each person in the room had their own motives and goals. of course this world is not perfect and people aim for things that only benefit themselves, and it is hard to find a perfect solution that will benefit everyone in the room. some will always benefit more and less for some. The different goals and "selfish" thoughts made it harder to reach an agreement (to a certain extent, each person was thinking of themselves only). Some people in the room offered ideas and was willing to negotiate and accommodate. While others competed and wanted their ideas to succeed. Me, myself and I ... played the half the collaborating role and the avoidance role when handling the situation. I spoke my mind out to my peers and people around me that could hear me, however i didnt voice it to the whole class. At the time i felt like the class was not anywhere near reaching an agreement, and that it was too chaotic. and pretty much everyone else' concerns were similar to mine, therefore i let them take the grip on reaching a decision.
At the end of the activitiy, we did reach an agreement that everyone somewhat agree with. it took a lot of organizing, people throwing ideas and finally we reached an agreement.

Shopaholic - Major help needed!
You've read the title right, i'm a shopaholic and i need help! (admitting it is a good step right?) So last night i went to watch the movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic, i've also read the books. For those who don't know Confessions of a Shopacholic is written by Sophie Kinsella, and it is a chick series of a girl who is an Shopaholic. Anyways, that is pretty much self explanatory. Is it just us girls? or do guys feel it too? When your either upset or feeling really out of it, shopping always make it better! whether your looking at that really cute dress that you don't really need, but you just want it, just in case you need something to wear for an occasion. Or when you have an event to go to, you always need something new to wear disregarding all those dresses in your closet that you've only wore once? I've never knew I was a shopaholic until watching the movie. I thought everyone spend the one I do, I guess its not the case. I spend more than i make, and my parents are always complaining, but that dont stop me. Living paycheck to paycheck because of all the money i spend on shopping doesnt stop me. So i guess i'll admit i have a mild case of a shopaholic. I just need some advice from everyone. How do you stop these urges to shop? Does anyone else feel the same way i do? (this way i know im not alone). please leave some comments. and thank you!

An Eggs-cellent Way to Plan!
I have to say, our team did follow the five steps of planning. First we defined our goals which is to make an egg protector and to also achieve that five extra points on the next test (which i really need right now). Next we determined our resources and current status, we went over what is the best plan we can do with the straws and tape that we have. Next was to develop several alternative strategies and this is the part where i felt was our team's weakness. we contributed too much time into one strategy ... and with the limited time left we came up with a second plan which was more complicated but maybe more effective. The team's decision was to stick to the original plan since there was a limited amount of time left and the other plan was really complicated and we would've never made it in time. The decision we made was the fourth step of the planning process which is to make a tatical plan and stick with it. and of course the last part is to implement the plan. Our team did not get the five points, our egg split in half! I felt like my team did the best we can, next time maybe we can come up with more plans and pick the strongest one of the plans. Not like we will be asked to built an egg protector ever again eh?

My Biggest Management Problem
Life, itself is a big complicated management problem. Constantly planning, managing, and interacting with people, either at work or at school or the asshole on the train that is hogging all the leg space, forcing you to sit uncomfortably through out the whole train ride. A current management problem I'm facing is just the complications of life, its hitting me hard in the face. Just about a week ago i got laid off at my job. Its understandable, times are hard... i mean at least i don't have a family to raise right? However, I am a college student in a debt because i spend more than i can make. The first problem i faced was how to tell my parents, actually just my mother, whose biggest fears is for her three daughters to be unemployed and leeching off of her money. Went through that stage without a sweat, she was surprisingly understanding and also considerate. The next thing i have to manage is what am I going to do now? I am torn between looking for job or put all of my concentration on school and just maybe live off of financial aid. There are many things on hand that i have to consider, school is important. however, having a job and the experience is equally important to me. Also, i need the income to pay my bills, eat, live, everything requires cash cash cash! After much thinking and planning, I've decided that I would take a break from work, maybe just a couple of weeks before looking for a job again. Hopefully by then, the economy would be better and hopefully I will be back in business.

Mini Biography
The Name is Ying, through out my life there was many attempts of an english name. Elaine and Ida were some I've used, but none worked out. So i decided to keep my given name, Ying Feng Wu, for its uniqueness. I was born in China and came to the United States when I turned seven. Starting a new life in New York was very different, for the first time I see snow, for the first time i see people of a different race. After adapting to my new environments, I went through elementary school, intermediate and high school like any other American child. Currently, I am a junior at Baruch College majoring in Accounting and minoring in Psychology. My current goal is to go through school and get my CPA by the time I am 25. Asides from school I am also working for a commercial real estate company, First Service Williams Real Estate, in their corporate accounting department. School and work are my first priorities as of now, however, on my spare time I love to do anything fun. Snowboarding, volleyball, movies, singing, dancing, reading "chick literature" are some of my hobbies.
